Santas on his Way
IMAGINE SETTING OUT with your children in search of the real Father Christmas in the snow-filled realms of Lapland! It is an experience that will live in their memories forever. The setting is a winter wonderland, on the edge of Europe’s last great wilderness.

It’s magical, of course ... why else would Santa make his home here? You start out on snowmobiles, then in the quiet forest, you transfer to a reindeer sleigh. Perhaps an elf will appear, to help you look for clues. Then, suddenly, you glimpse a golden glow from a lonely log cabin! Is this Santa’s secret hideaway? Will you dare knock and enter?

Your search for Santa is the highlight of your two-night break with Transun. But there is so much more included. From a Husky Experience to a Snowmobile Adventure, from sledging to snowman making, from Supervised Snow Fun to a Festive Dinner, your short break is filled with memorable experiences. Here is a typical itinerary.

DAY ONE
After a festive flight, you land in Enontekiö in Finland and are guided to your coach. The journey (15 minutes to our hotels in Hetta or one hour to the Davvi Arctic Lodge in Karesuando) takes you through the heart of the Sámi lands. Watch out for reindeer in the woods! We stop to collect your all-in-one thermal suits and boots. After checking in at your hotel, your rep hosts a welcome meeting and during a welcome dinner, your Transun rep will answer questions.

DAY TWO
After breakfast, you head outside for Supervised Snow Fun, a day of activities that include a Snowshoe Trek, Snowball Throwing Contest, Tandem Skis and Children’s Skis, Snowman Building, Tug-of-War, Snow Hockey and lots more! There will also be a supervised kids` snowmobile ride (*see below details). Activities are available throughout the day. A warming lunch will be served in the hotel. Afterwards, you might want to join in the indoor Christmas rafts. Or, just relax indoors. Outside, if you’re lucky, there may be some husky puppies to efriend, or a chance to get up close to a friendly reindeer. Then, the highlight of the day when you board a reindeer sleigh and set off In Search of Father Christmas. During a private family meeting in his cabin, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and receives a small gift. Before dinner, join a walk to the local church. After a welcome by the local vicar and carols, you return to your hotel for a Festive Dinner. Afterwards, why not join us on an optional Northern Lights Husky Safari?

DAY THREE
Check out after breakfast, before joining your two included Santa safaris, a 40-minute Husky Experience and a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Adventure. Then, there’s time for snow activities, with toboggans available free and kick sledges upon payment of a deposit. And there’s plenty of family fun to be had making snowmen or enjoying snowball fi ghts! Or you could try an optional excursions, perhaps Reindeer Herding. After lunch at the hotel, you set off by coach to Enontekiö and your flight home.

 Can anyone drive a snowmobile?
Driving a snowmobile in Finland is like driving a car, similar laws apply. A full driving licence is required. Please ensure you bring your driving licence with you. A damage waiver must be signed before commencing the activity. Credit card copies  are taken and a 550 euros excess is payable for any damage, irrespective of severity. Normal traffic laws apply on snowmobile routes. Safety helmets must be worn at all times. (Please note this is not a defi nitive list of instructions and liabilities, further information is available upon request, and will be provided at resort.) As a general rule, all children 15 and under will travel in a sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Children 12-plus can ride as a passenger behind a responsible parent/adult, however this is physically demanding and therefore they will be assessed by the local guide on the day and it is at the guide’s discretion, their decision being final.

 Are the kids' snowmobiles safe?
We have a miniature snowmobile ride for children. Depending on their size they are normally suitable for 4 to 10 year-olds. As it is a motorised vehicle, the ride is supervised so only available at specified times Snowmobiles are driven around a small circuit, attached to a rope. Children will have a minimum of five laps.
